European Waste Prevention Week - Food waste
Waste prevention is resource and climate protection. This is because the production of many products consumes a lot of resources and generates emissions. Every year in November, the campaign week sees tens of thousands of people campaigning for waste prevention at the same time.
This year's theme is "Down to the last crumb - using food carefully". Here you can find the events of this year's campaign week:
Every household has different shopping habits, some go shopping daily, others weekly. But how sensible is it to stock up on food? How and, above all, where do you store different foods so that they stay fresh and edible for as long as possible? In what ways can food be preserved? How can I provide for myself if the power goes out for a long time and what does sustainability actually have to do with food security? These and other questions will be answered in the interactive workshop

There will be tips and tricks for saving food at the information stand. These can be put to optimum use by
- cooking with leftover food,
- good storage and
- passing on food that is no longer needed - for example at Fairteilern.
In addition, a food rescuer with many years of experience will report on what food sharing looks like in practice.
Students of the TU Dresden are building a fair divider. The event invites interested parties to discuss the challenges of developing and implementing an architecturally appealing type of food rescue point.

Anyone who would like free support and advice on repairs is welcome. The RepairCafé is a regular repair event that takes place in the SLUB Makerspace in the Drepunct library (Zellescher Weg 17). Not only the volunteers of the RepairCafé Dresden/ Freital initiative provide support, but also SLUB staff with knowledge and equipment ranging from 3D printers to sewing machines.
In addition to repairing things, the focus is also on the café character. Visitors to the RepairCafé will be able to talk to each other over coffee and cake.
