Review of the Future Climate Protection Workshop
Future workshop on climate protection
What steps will lead TU Dresden further along its path to becoming a climate-neutral university? This question was addressed by 70 participants at the Climate Protection Future Workshop on Monday, January 12, 2026. Together with experts, employees and students, they worked on the university's emerging climate protection concept.
After an introductory greeting from Prof. Roswitha Böhm,Vice-Rector University Culture and Internationalization, Maike Heitkamp-Mai, Sustainability Manager at TU Dresden, placed the project in the university's sustainability strategy. Climate Protection Manager Marie-Luise Steffler then gave an overview of the project framework for creating the concept in a keynote speech, presented the initial results of the GHG balance sheet and explained the current status of the development of measures. TU Dresden is receiving technical support from the company plant values in the preparation of the climate protection concept, whose expertise is making a significant contribution to the progress of the project.
The intensive core phase of the event involved working in five groups on the topics of energy, mobility, research and teaching, sufficiency and resilience. Pre-defined central measures were discussed and evaluated with great commitment. This resulted in numerous suggestions and ideas for solutions, which were recorded on display boards and incorporated into the further process.
Finally, the moderation teams of the thematic groups presented their results in a plenary session. The three-hour event ended with an outlook on the integrated climate protection concept expected in June.
Many thanks to all colleagues who provided a small selection of snacks, sweets and drinks via Foodsharing Dresden and private donations.
