Next review of TU Dresden's environmental management system
TU Dresden has an environmental management system in accordance with EMAS (Eco-Managemenet and Audit Scheme) since 2003. This year, the established system is subject to a major revalidation. Normally, this means a three-day audit by external auditors on the TU Dresden campus as well as at the Tharandt site, the Botanical Garden and the Medical Faculty. On-site inspections are carried out and discussions are held with the university management and central institutions of the TU Dresden. The most important aspect is how topics of environment protection are dealt with in teaching, research and operation of the university and what opportunities and risks may arise in relation to the environment. One key document of the environmental management process is the environmental report with the recent figures on resource consumption of TU Dresden. It also portraits activities in the field of environmental protection and sustainability and includes the environmental program with concrete objectives and measures for 2022.
Due to the pandemic situtation, the audit which was supposed to take place on site will be carried out as a video conference from 14 to 16 December 2021. Mandatory on-the-spot checks on the premises of TU Dresden which are necessary for the EMAS registration will be implemented in 2022 as soon as possible. After this, the environmental report of TU Dresden will be published.
