Indian Trefftz Professor Researches Regenerative Cooling Systems
Dr. Madhuri Wuppulluri is on her first research stay abroad: the materials scientist from India will spend one year as Eleonore Trefftz Visiting Woman Professor at the TU Chair of Building Energy Systems and Heat Supply.
The 38-year-old is working in a joint research group based at the Leibniz Institute of Solid State and Materials Research (IFW) on the development of innovative energy-efficient air conditioning systems.
The project “Solare magnetische Klimatisier-ung von Gebäuden” (SOMAK, Solar magnetic air conditioning of buildings) is funded by the Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Energy (BMWi).
Prof. Wuppulluri speaks enthusiastically about the Eleonore Trefftz Programme: “It was the best and the longest programme especially for women scientists that I could find,” explains Madhuri Wuppulluri, who has been Assistant Professor of Physics at the VIT University in Vellore, located in the southern Indian province of Tamil Nadu, since 2009. “One year will give me the opportunity to carry out sound research with my colleagues here and to develop a feeling for the culture of the country.”
