Rights and Roles in the WebCMS
Table of contents
Work flows
The WebCMS has a hierarchical system of rights and roles, which keeps work flows structured and organizes authorization. Different roles can be assigned in different web areas. It is not necessary to assign all roles in each web area.
- Editors and Chief Editors are primarily responsible for the content of a website.
- Chief Editors can make changes to the content and are responsible for publishing content.
- Administrators have additional rights for managing the organization of processes and the web area.
Rights
Editor:
You edit the content of a website using the typical functions, including:
- copying elements
- deleting elements which you created, so long as it has not been published
- creating and editing boxes and their contents for content pages
- setting up access protection
- submitting content to be published
Chief Editor:
With Chief Editor rights, you have all of the above rights, plus:
- moving and removing content elements that someone else created
- editing content on the start and overview pages
- define visible elements on start and overview pages
- publishing content
Administrator:
With administrator rights, you can also:
- manage your web area, meaning that you can grant editing rights for portions of your web area (roles: Editor or Chief Editor) and revoke these rights
- change the author of multiple elements at once
It is also important that you keep the rights for your web area up-to-date and revoke rights from those who no longer need them.
You can also contact Web Support to specify a deputy to act on your behalf for a limited time frame. Web Support will also grant Administrator rights to the person of your choosing.
Assigning rights
New authorizations can be set up by administrators. For web areas without this role, our form for requesting editing rights can be used. It is also important that you keep the rights for your web area up-to-date and revoke rights from those who no longer need them. The form for deregistering editing rights is available for this purpose.
