Effective Supervision of Seminar Papers and Theses
Fritz-Foerster-Bau
Mommsenstraße 6
01069 Dresden
How much guidance and support are appropriate? How can expectations and feedback be communicated clearly and transparently to students? How can commitment and accountability be established among all parties involved? How can supervision processes be organised efficiently?
A well-structured supervision process is more important than ever, particularly in light of technological developments such as artificial intelligence (AI). It creates transparency, reliability, and clear expectations. Starting from the intended outcomes and functions of seminar papers and theses, this workshop develops practical elements for establishing clear requirements and assessment criteria.
Participants gain an overview of key challenges in supervising student work and use these insights to identify appropriate levels of support and responsibilities. The workshop also addresses questions related to the use of AI in academic work.
To support effective process management, participants will learn practical project management tools and communication techniques that can be integrated into their own supervision practice.
