Unfair without Intention? Recognizing and Shaping Diversity in Tutorials
Sometimes things happen in tutorials that are not meant to be hurtful, yet some students may feel excluded or disadvantaged. This workshop focuses on how to approach diversity in tutorials with sensitivity: Who is actually sitting in front of you? Where might unconscious differences play a role? And how can you foster a fair and inclusive atmosphere? Together, we will look at typical situations and gather ideas on how to create a learning environment where everyone feels welcome and addressed.
Learning objectives:
Participants will:
-
become more aware of how easily unfairness can arise
-
understand the difference between equal treatment, equal rights, and fairness
-
gain practical communication tools to effectively reach as many students as possible
