Call for proposals for the Digital Learning and Teaching Fund 2025/2026
Principles and regulations for the funding of projects in the field of digital learning and teaching in the years 2025/2026 at the TUD Dresden University of Technology
Projects eligible for funding and funding objectives
Funding is provided for the development of (partially) digital learning and teaching scenarios that are convincing due to innovative ideas in their respective context and are based on a clearly defined challenge. The concepts should be based on TU Dresden's teaching mission statement.
Support funds totaling EUR 100,000 (personnel and material resources) are available for implementation, which must be spent by 30.09.2026. A total of five projects will be funded with EUR 20,000 each.
Within the scope of the funded projects, at least one of the OBJECTIVES should be pursued with the didactically justified use of digital media in teaching:
- Promoting the individualization of learning processes and paths,
- Promoting interaction and participation in teaching,
- Supporting teaching activities by promoting digital skills,
- Promoting the acquisition of skills in dealing with AI and its use in studies and teaching,
- New edition or expansion of existing offers, taking into account diversity and accessibility,
- Increasing the visibility of TU Dresden nationally and internationally through Open Educational Resources and/or Practices (OER/OEP).
In addition to financial support, ZiLL offers (continuous) didactic advice and networking for all TU Dresden teaching staff.
Tender procedure
Idea submission for lottery procedure
To apply to the Digital Learning and Teaching Fund, please submit an outline of your idea by May 2, 2025 using the form provided. |
Ten project ideas will then be drawn from the submissions received. The project managers will present their project to a jury consisting of members of various TU Dresden status groups.
The results of the draw will be announced on 08.05.2025. All persons who have submitted a project will be informed by e-mail.
Proposal pitch
During a digital jury session, the pitch will be held live, with fixed time slots allocated. Each time slot includes 15 minutes of presentation time and 10 minutes for discussion and questions from the jury.
The application pitch should contain the following information:
- Initial situation and objective of the project,
- Description of the project, including realization concept,
- Presentation of the didactic concept, including the need for adaptation, expansion and optimization,
- Added value for students and teaching staff (with strategic reference to TU Dresden's teaching mission statement or to the target agreements of the departments or faculties),
- Quality assurance and sustainability concept,
- Transfer potential and scalability,
- Timetable and financial calculation.
The first three points have a particularly high priority and should be worked out in detail. For the other points, a sketchy presentation that briefly and concisely summarizes the key aspects is sufficient.
- Consider accessibility aspects as listed in the action plan.
- It is desirable that you make your project results available as OER or OEP if suitable.
- If you are planning developments outside the technically provided infrastructure at TU Dresden, these must be well justified.
Evaluation criteria of the jury
- Coherent and transferable didactic concept
- Sustainability planning and its feasibility
- Added value for students and lecturers
- Transfer potential and scalability
- Realistic cost and time schedule
Funding regulations
All TU Dresden lecturers who are officially responsible for teaching a course are eligible to apply. This explicitly includes students who have a teaching role (e.g. tutors). Excluded from this are members of the Faculty of Medicine, whose submissions cannot be considered in the context of the call.
Subject to the provision of funds, the funding period begins on 01.09.2025 and ends on 31.08.2026. Shorter terms with a flexible start date are possible.
Parallel developments to existing central IT infrastructure systems and services offered by TU Dresden are not eligible for funding.
Basic equipment cannot be financed within the scope of this funding; this includes the complete standard equipment for workstations (IT and furniture as well as small devices and cables). The financing of construction measures, repairs and maintenance work is also excluded.
Personnel and material costs can be claimed. The funds may only be used for the purpose stated in the application and for the period requested.
Hospitality costs and purchases are only possible within the guidelines applicable at TU Dresden:
The funds are budget funds and must be spent by 30.09.2026. For the reallocation of funds in justified cases, an informal application must be submitted in advance and sent to .
A final report and a table of the use of funds must be submitted by 31.10.2026 at the latest after completion of the project. The ZiLL provides appropriate templates for this purpose.
The final report can be submitted in various formats, for example as a blog post, transfer handout with lessons learned, publication of created OER or similar. Documentation that is suitable for the project and effective for the public will be jointly agreed during the course of the project.
During the project period, networking meetings are offered in which all project participants can take part.
Each project should take part in at least one networking event and the presentation of the project status there (e.g. specific networking events for funding recipients, E-Teaching Day, Teaching Day, Diversity Days, etc.).
Publication of the experiences and results by those responsible for the project is expressly desired.
Information about the project and parts of the final report will be documented on the TU Dresden website and, if approved, on the pages of the Saxony Education Portal. In the spirit of Open Education/Open Science, the project results should be made available under an open license (e.g. CC BY-SA 4.0, CC BY 4.0, CC BY-NC or CC 0). Consultations by the SLUB in cooperation with the ZiLL can be booked at any time via the Wissensbar.
There is no legal entitlement to funding.
