Dresdner Forum für internationale Politik 2024: A complete success!
The Dresden Forum for International Politics was once again successfully held in 2024 and this time offered exciting insights into peace processes and different ways of shaping them. Various experts were invited to speak on the topic from their respective perspectives.
Among other things, the keynotes and panels dealt with the transformation of civil wars from violent to non-violent conflicts, the great relevance of civil society stakeholders for peace processes and the need to include women and other underrepresented groups. In addition, the panels offered the opportunity to further enrich the lively discussions of the speakers through questions from the audience and to better understand the panelists' perspectives.
Particularly impressive was the discussion with experienced diplomat Martin Kobler, who reviewed his 40-year career in the diplomatic service and provided fascinating and diverse insights into the practice of peace negotiations. Among other things, he emphasized the importance of open communication channels and interpersonal relationships in peace processes, which proved to be essential in his own career.
Overall, the event was a complete success and was worthwhile for everyone involved. There were numerous interesting discussions and contributions from different perspectives, so that all listeners were shown new perspectives on peace processes. Once again this year, this was only possible thanks to the smooth cooperation between the Center for International Studies, the Saxon State Chancellery, the Development and Peace Foundation (sef:) and the Frauenkirche Dresden Foundation.
