Professor Crister S. Garrett (Institute for American Studies, Universität Leipzig)
Prof. Crister S. Garrett is Professor for American, Transatlantic, and International Studies and Director of the Institute for American Studies at the University of Leipzig. He earned his PhD at the University of California at Los Angeles in contemporary politics and history. Prior to coming to Germany, he taught at the the Monterey Institute of International Studies in California (five years) and at the University of WisconsinMadison (five years). His teaching and research focuses on current political and economic transformations in the United States and Europe and their impact on transatlantic relations and global governance. Professor Garrett was DAAD International Guest Scholar at the University of Leipzig (2005-2007) and held the Fulbright-Leipzig Chair for American Studies during 2003-2005. From 1994 to 1995, he was a Robert Bosch Foundation Fellow in Germany and a Rotary Fellow in Sweden from 1987 to 1988. Professor Garret has published widely in German-American relations, including in such journals as Aus Politik und Zeitgeschichte and the Harvard International Review.
