Higher education graduates more likely to remain in Saxony
Today, project manager Prof. Karl Lenz and Science Minister Sebastian Gemkow presented the results of the 4th Saxon Graduate Study. Based on previous studies conducted in 2008, 2013 and 2018, the 2023 study once again polled graduates from Saxony's universities and universities of applied sciences. Notably, this survey also included art colleges for the first time. Funded by the Saxon Ministry of Science, the study was conducted by the Competence Centre for Education and Higher Education Research at TU Dresden's Centre for Quality Analysis. The study covers the 2019/2020 examination years and once again surveys graduates from the 2015/2016 and 2010/2011 cohorts regarding their subsequent career paths.
The long period covered by the study and the large amount of data collected make it a notable feature of higher education research in Saxony. This time, the study focused particularly on whether graduates remained in Saxony or moved to other regions. However, evaluations of the quality of the study programme, satisfaction with one's choice of studies, and success in entering the workforce are also important topics that contribute to the development of Saxony's universities.
