The World of Ceramics

In close cooperation with Fraunhofer IKTS, the Chair of Inorganic Non-metallic Materials performs research efforts in the field of structural and functional ceramic materials. The joint areas of research include energy and environmental technology (above all: fuel cell systems, li-ion batteries, membrane technology, non-oxidic fiber composite materials, etc.), combinatorial micro-electrochemistry, piezoelectric fibers and laminates, as well as the instrumented compaction of powders and granules.

Teaching and Learning

The Chair of Inorganic Non-metallic Materials (ANW) provides three lectures on the subject of ceramic materials. Furthermore, the chair provides the opportunity to author graduate theses at Fraunhofer IKTS.

Introduction to the Chair of Inorganic Non-metallic Materials

The Chair of Inorganic Non-Metallic Materials is one of the chairs at the Institute of Materials Science. The chair has been held since 2004 by Prof. Dr. rer. nat. habil. Alexander Michaelis.

Five employees are associated with the Chair of Inorganic Non-metallic Materials. They collaborate closely with the Fraunhofer Institute for Ceramic Technologies and Systems IKTS. IKTS makes its infrastructure available to the employees of the chair; several cross-institutional working groups also exist.
