The subjects of this institute provide students with knowledge about:

•  System oriented fundamentals as far as rail traffic and public transportation are concerned
•  Operation Management n companies of public transport
•  The content of teaching covers strategic and functional problems of public and urban transport such as:
•  Planning rail networks, forming schedules, generating duty rosters, circuit planning and performance check-ups
•  Sizing of railway systems, principles of operating control and line management of railway traffic
•  Linking railway systems and logistic operations as far as commercial transport is concerned.

In order to deepen the content of teaching we organize work experience in our railway labour.

The main aspects of our research work are the fields of operating control and the strategic management of railways and companies of public transport. In addition, we focus on the operation of industrial railways and the scheduling of public and urban transport implying the structure of sidings.

Furthermore, our professorship organizes, both self-contained and in combination with business partners, seminars concerning the operating control implying safety systems. Such courses contain in addition to theoretic units work experience in our railway labour.
