Wissenschaftlerinnen auf dem Weg zur Professur
When: Friday, 28 January 2022
Time: 09:00 am - 1:30 pm
Online Workshop
The first important stage that female scientists have to master on the way to a professorship is the qualification phase, for example as a research associate, junior professor or professorial representative. In addition to scientific work, networking is an indispensable component - a process to which female scientists should pay particular attention.
In the second stage - the application phase - it is important to present oneself convincingly and professionally. A clear positioning is an "absolute must" here.
If the scientist finally receives the call to a professorship, the third stage involves appointment negotiations on salary and equipment. Successful negotiators are those who have a high level of information, knowledge of the psychology of negotiation and a skilful strategy. Empathic negotiation, especially with "thrifty foxes" and brittle "patriarchs," is a real challenge. The scientist should also be informed about which specific funding programs can be accessed by her or the university. Questions about the compatibility of career and family as well as the design of "dual career" constellations are also becoming increasingly important.
In the online seminar, advisors provide initial practical advice - based on current experience - on the most important qualification paths to a professorship, on a successful application, and on how to optimize negotiations and results.
