Bakteriopolis: The hidden world of microbes
The traveling exhibition Bakteriopolis offers visitors of all ages a fascinating insight into the world of microbes! Here you can learn more about the omnipresence and diverse abilities of bacteria.
An existing TU Dresden overseas container has been redesigned as part of Bakteriopolis to offer visitors a comprehensive insight into the world of bacteria. The various components of a bacterial cell can be explored using an augmented reality application. Various hands-on stations such as exploring the family tree of life, microscopy or making water kefir provide an insight into the microcosm of bacteria.
Current research is presented in an understandable, transparent and yet technically correct way. All exhibition texts are translated into German, English and plain language.
School classes can visit on Mondays and Fridays, as well as Tuesdays and Wednesdays from 8-10 am. Bakteriopolis events are aimed at all school types and age groups. The exhibition will open on September 18, 2024 on the grounds of the Botanical Garden and is expected to be open to visitors and school classes until May 2025.
