As a prelude to the Doctoral Student Days, Prof. Hurtado cooked a paella for some 45 guests already registered for the event, some of whom already arrived on the 16th specifically for this reason. It turns out the two presenters complemented themselves quite well culinarily: Prof. Hagen also contributed a flan he prepared himself. Both dishes proved to be crowd pleasers and set the mood for the collaborative weekend ahead.
As with the previous year, presentations of all the funded projects took place on the first day of the event. Prof. Fasoulas, Chairman of the Boysen Foundation, opened the event to an audience of representatives of the three supported universities: Dresden, Karlsruhe, and Stuttgart. As a representative of the Foundation's Board of Trustees, Professor Reut (Universität Stuttgart) was present alongside Prof. Hurtado. Among the 26 individual projects presented, the doctoral students of the joint project KIT of the Universität Karlsruhe began with their presentations. The first results were presented: for example, the topic of wetting phenomena and the formation of deposits during ammonia treatment in the exhaust system. In his role as speaker of the Boysen TU Dresden Graduate School, Prof. Hurtado then outlined the development of the interdisciplinary research network and partially presented the framework of a third Graduate School at the TU Dresden. The lecture series was continued with the presentation of the progress and results of the research projects at the Boysen TU Dresden Graduate School and the Universität Stuttgart.
Once again, a hearty dinner at Gasthof Hirsch brought the first day to a jovial conclusion. The Kaufmann/Kirn family, for whom the Doctoral Student Days have also developed into an annual highlight, prepared the evening meticulously and took great care of their guests. Collaborative exchange was the focus here, as was the speech of the Boysen CEO Rolf Geisel. PhD student spokesman Nick Pruditsch took this opportunity to thank the Friedrich and Elisabeth Boysen Foundation and, thus, Boysen GmbH for their support. He emphasized that it was truly a unique opportunity to be able carry out research in such an interdisciplinary environment.

2. GRK
On the second day, the Head of the Development Department and member of the Board of Trustees, Mr. Michael Fischer, welcomed all participants of the Doctoral Student Days at the Boysen plant in Simmersfeld. Employees guided the visitors through the existing and the newly built Boysen production plant in groups. The new production plant for truck exhaust technology, which was just an excavation pit during the fifth annual Doctoral Student Days the year before, has already been partially equipped and the production lines are currently being set up and configured. It is directly adjacent to the already existing Boysen factory in Simmersfeld and is the largest construction project in the company's history.
For the doctoral students of the second Boysen TU Dresden Graduate School, these were the last Doctoral Student Days, as they are expected to complete their work in the near future.
A big thank you goes to Ms. Elisa Werler, assistant to the Board of the Foundation, Ms Nina Heiss, secretary at Boysen GmbH, and to all those who have made a contribution to the success of the Doctoral Student Days.
