Award from the Friedrich and Elisabeth Boysen Foundation to Dr. Stefan Heidinger
On the day of the Faculty of Mechanical Science and Engineering of the TUD Dresden University of Technology on 22.06.2024, Dr.-Ing Stefan Heidinger, former doctoral student of the 3rd Boysen TUD Research Training Group, received the Friedrich and Elisabeth Boysen Foundation Award for his dissertation entitled "Heat and Mass Transfer to Particles in Pulsating Flows". The prize is awarded annually to particularly outstanding dissertations by young scientists in the field of environmental technology with a focus on engineering solutions for the reduction of pollutants, noise and energy consumption.
Prof. Antonio Hurtado gave the laudatory speech for Mr. Heidinger, highlighting the special features of Mr. Heidinger's work(see poster), but also his special commitment within the Boysen-TU Dresden Graduate School. We would also like to take this opportunity to congratulate Mr. Heidinger once again, in the words of Prof. Hurtado: "You will remain unforgettable at our Research Training Group and have set very special standards... both professionally and personally. All the best to you. We remain united!"
The Faculty Day ceremony began with a welcoming speech by the Dean of the Faculty of Mechanical Science and Engineering and doctoral supervisor of the award winner, Prof. Michael Beckmann. Dr. Mike Thieme moderated the ceremony from 16:00. Prof. Dr. Ursula M. Staudinger, Rector of TU Dresden, delivered a greeting from the University Executive Board, based on the quote "Give me a lever long enough and a fulcrum strong enough, and I can move the world with one hand." (Archimedes (287-212)). Prof. Dr. Klaus Mainzer, philosopher and philosopher of science, Emeritus of Excellence at TU Munich, gave the subsequent, also very exciting keynote speech "Future through sustainable innovation - AI in the competition of systems". The event was accompanied musically by the Glauchau band "Purple Energy" with singer Knut Kielmann.
The honoring of the graduates and the awarding of prizes were another highlight at the Boulevardtheater Dresden. This is also where the prize for innovation in teaching was awarded to Prof. Christiane Thomas, Bitzer-Chair of Refrigeration, Cryogenics and Compressor Technology, the Manfred Hirschvogel Prize to Dr. Gregor Herz for his dissertation, the Franz Stolze Prize to Lena Sophie Hensch for her diploma thesis and to Dr. Stefan Fogel for his dissertation.
The crowning glory of the award ceremony was the Friedrich and Elisabeth Boysen Foundation's sponsorship prize for Dr. Heidinger and Dr. Milad Eftekhari. Prof. Hurtado delivered his laudatory speech with great pleasure and Dr. Eftekhari was also highly praised. After his congratulations, Prof. Hurado spontaneously called Dr. Anna Martius to the stage, who worked closely with Mr. Heidinger during his time at the Boysen-TU Dresden Graduate School and who was very pleased to personally present Dr. Heidinger with the flowers as a gesture of high recognition.
The graduation speech was not to be missed and at 6:45 pm Prof. Beckmann concluded the lecture marathon and opened the evening event with a champagne reception and buffet. The last people left the very successful event at around 23:00. A photo wall also provided lots of fun and great memories!
