Colloquium with PhD students from the Leibniz Graduate School (March 12th, 2020)
On March 12th, 2020, the scholars of the Boysen-TU Dresden Research Training Group invited the scholars of the Leibniz Graduate School to a joint colloquium under the slogan "Methods in Social Science - Your PhD work meets peer feedback".
Over coffee and cake, the participants presented their dissertation projects and discussed current hurdles they may be facing. For example, statistical outputs were interpreted together and strategies for data collection regarding distortions were examined. The subject of qualitative data analysis was particularly well received by all participants, where there was, among other things, a lot of exchange regarding coding procedures, program selection, and replicability.
The fact that networking with other members of the DRESDEN-concept was an enrichment for everyone was demonstrated not only in the eager dialogue and feedback, but also after the colloquium. The scholars agreed on ways to stay in contact in the future for effective exchange of relevant tutorials and working papers.
A follow-up colloquium to share further project progress is already being planned.
