Mettools XII Conference at Deutsches Hygiene-Museum Dresden
From 26 to 28 November 2024, the METTOOLS XII conference, organized by the Committee for Environmental Meteorology of the German Meteorological Society (DMG), took place at the Deutsches Hygiene-Museum in Dresden. Prof. Matthias Mauder, Chair of Meteorology at TU Dresden and supervisor of Project F3 of the Boysen-TUD-Research Training Group, was one of the main organizers of this prestigious event, which was aimed at professionals and researchers in the field of environmental meteorology. RTG doctoral student Sampath Buddhika Weerappulli (project F3) also participated in the 3-day conference.

This year, METTOOLS XII focused on eco-meteorological tools for sustainable change. Topics included the development of advanced measurement and modeling methods, the creation of prototype tools and the application experiences derived from them. The conference formed an important bridge between environmental meteorological research and practical fields of application and promoted a comprehensive exchange of ideas between the participants.
The program included expert discussions divided into three main sessions and three interesting panel discussions. The event was held as a hybrid conference, which allowed for broader participation by overcoming geographical barriers.

Renewable energy and its impact on the urban climate were also among the topics discussed in the presentations. These sessions provided valuable insights and stimulated a meaningful exchange of ideas. Each presentation was followed by dynamic and stimulating discussions in which participants were able to share knowledge and experiences. Participants also benefited from the opportunity to engage with experts on the challenges of their current projects, fostering a collaborative and solution-oriented environment.
