Summer seminars in Saxon Switzerland
The participants of this year's summer seminars at Hohnstein Castle.
From August 14 to 16, the Chair of Inorganic Chemistry 1 at TU Dresden hosted its annual scientific event: the Summer Seminars 2025.
The seminars brought together doctoral students, including RTG doctoral student Lairana Lima Duarte (project G1), postdocs and group leaders from the group of Prof. Stefan Kaskel (Chair of Inorganic Chemistry 1, TU Dresden) for a scientific retreat to discuss recent progress in current projects, introduce new group members, find topics for collaboration within the group and network. The event included 16 lectures organized in four lecture series with fruitful discussions on electrochemistry, catalysis, ionotronics, adsorption and synthesis of advanced functional materials.
This year's seminars took place at Hohnstein Castle in the heart of Saxon Switzerland, a fairytale-like location surrounded by nature. An exciting 16 km hike through the beautiful Elbe Sandstone Mountains was planned as a sociable part of the program. An afternoon in the Hohnstein municipal swimming pool also offered a welcome change on the hot summer days, which were sometimes 34 °C. In the evening, the participants were challenged to test their knowledge of chemistry, food, music, history and current events in a pub quiz. The event coincided with the Canaletto Festival, which took place from August 15 to 17 - a great weekend for a visit to Dresden.
