New BAuA Research Project: Violence Prevention Through Building Design
How can building design help prevent violence and harassment in the workplace? The Chair of Social and Healthcare Building and Design at the TUD Dresden University of Technology is addressing this question as part of a research project conducted by the Federal Institute for Occupational Safety and Health (BAuA).
The focus is on structural and technical risk factors and preventive measures in three areas of people-oriented services: central emergency rooms, psychiatric facilities, and municipal service centers that interact directly with the public.
The goal of the project is to systematically compile scientific findings on violence-preventive building design, expand upon them through on-site analyses and interviews with experts, and derive practical planning recommendations for new, renovated, and existing buildings.
