January's Alumni of the Month is an expert in landscape architecture

Landscape architecture has been a leitmotif that runs through several generations of the Evert family. Dierk Evert - "Landi" alumnus of 1972 - was influenced by his parents, and his son Johannes followed in the same footsteps when he graduated in 2013.

Dierk Evert gives the following fatherly advice to his students: "Whatever you do, do it with total dedication, and look forward to working with plants as they are a living material,"
his son Johannes adds his two cents' worth: "Never stop enjoying what you study. There are hard times when you don't know where your head is because of all the assignments, practicals, etc. At the same time, you’ll get lots of opportunities. Try to make the most of these. It’s a really exciting and varied profession!"

Both of them remember the excursions from their studies particularly fondly. "You rarely experience so much input in so little time, coupled with the concentrated expertise of the professors traveling with you," says Johannes Evert.

Both father and son have been working together in a company for a number of years and plan various outdoor facilities for their clients.
