IBK goes Fire Fighting

Fortunately, the use of a fire extinguisher is required much less often than generally thought. But what should you do if the wastepaper basket actually catches fire?

Every year, the TUD Unit Safety at Work department and the company fire department at TU Dresden allow students on the "Brandschutz/Fire Protection" course to practice emergency situations. Using water and CO_2, the students are allowed to get up close and personal with the fire.  In addition to explanations of the different extinguishing agents and how the various fire extinguishers work, the focus is primarily on gaining practical experience.  The approach is tested using several fire incidents and fears of contact are overcome. In the end, every student was successful 🙂 .
