Components and constructions

Im Forschungsschwerpunkt „Bauteil“ beschäftigen wir uns ausführlich mit allen Themen rund um Bauwerke. Nennenswerte Schwerpunkte sind: Bestimmung hygrothermischer Materialeigenschaften, Messung und Umsetzung von Materialparametern, bauphysikalische Qualitätssicherung bei der Produktentwicklung neuer Baustoffe, Bewertung von Schadensfällen (z. B. Feuchtebelastung, fehlender Schlagregenschutz), bauphysikalisches Monitoring von Gebäuden und Konstruktionen und Entwicklung neuer Sensortechnologien und Messmethoden, Mess- und Laborstandards. Buildings and districts

The research area "Buildings and Districts" deals with the energetic and climatic behavior of buildings and districts. In addition to thermal comfort, questions of energy efficiency are of particular interest. The building energy simulation tool is primarily used for this purpose. It primarily focuses on the passive behavior of buildings and quarters and can already provide meaningful analyses in early planning phases. Geothermie

Oberflächennahe Geothermie ist eine Schlüsseltechnologie zur regenerativen Wärmeversorgung von Gebäuden. In mehreren Forschungsprojekten beschäftigt sich das IBK mit der Modellierung und dem Monitoring geothermischer Wärmequellen, insbesondere Erdwärmekollektoren, welche die Wärme in den ersten Metern unter der Erdoberfläche nutzen. Dabei wird der Wärme- und Feuchtetransport sowie die Eisbildung im Simulationsmodell genau abgebildet, um Anlagen mit hohen Entzugsleistungen exakt zu dimensionieren zu können. Ein Schwerpunkt liegt auf der effizienten Modellierung von kalten Nahwärmenetzen, welche Quartiere mit geothermischer Energie versorgen.

Plant simulation

Plant simulation evaluates the function of HVAC systems in buildings. The level of detail of the plant models and the associated control models is greater than in building simulation. In addition, the coupling of heating, cooling and electricity is mainly implemented in the plant simulation. With the help of the plant simulation, control concepts can be developed that are tailored to the use of the buildings. Facade test bench for multifunctional active facade systems with room coupling

The aim of the project is to develop and apply an integral research test bed for multifunctional active facade systems with room coupling. Multifunctional active façade systems themselves contribute to supplying the building with heating, cooling, electricity and light, with particular emphasis on emission-free, regenerative energy supply systems. The test stand is intended to explore the innovative potential of active façade systems up to the complete supply of the building via the façade. The functional interaction of facades and rooms, in which the usage and comfort requirements are to be implemented with optimal energy management, can only be researched with room coupling. In the field of façade testing, the planned project breaks new scientific ground, the great economic development potential of which is to be opened up to the region's resident companies.
