FAQ
The project's target is to gain insight on a specific urban quarter and derive services and products to sustainably improve the quality of life. Our approach is to combine connected data from different sources (statistics, geodata, local social media groups, surveys, interviews and workshops).
We plan to deploy person frequency sensors on a public place to measure and frequency over day and night periods. This can be done by using e.g. proximity sensors or LIDAR systems (light detection and ranging). It is important to note that no personal data will be collected. This data could help urban planers in their analyses and projects.
A quarter cockpit is an app that contains a digital user interface that can be useful for several stakeholders. Different users (citizen, local companies, authorities, planers) can be provided with individual cockpit dashboards.
Urban data means data that describe a quarter or district. They exist on different platforms, e.g. statistics, survey or urban data portals (in Dresden for example the "Themenstadtplan"). This data can be classified into urban life categories. Categories could be: living, neighborhood, transport, environment, health, engagement, opportunities.
We will use open data in large amounts. The sensor data we plan to collect, e.g. on public places, will be anonymized or does not contain personal information. For additional qualitative interviews with voluntaries will get dedicated data collection and protection agreements.
