Where do we want to be by 2030? What key research areas do we envision for the future, and in which fields do we aim to develop?

To this end, we have formulated a mission statement that drives our daily work in research, teaching, and knowledge transfer.

• We enjoy a strong reputation across Europe for both fundamental research and industrial, experimental research and teaching projects. 

  Our thematic focus lies on sustainable building construction for building envelopes.

  • Safe and transparent construction: We possess expertise in lightweight glass construction — particularly thin-glass structures — and are renowned for our fire testing and research into fire behavior.

  • Joining and debonding: We are recognized for our research into bonding and debonding within our specialized field.

  • Energy efficiency and circularity: We contribute to the development of energy-efficient and circular building constructions, particularly regarding transparent building envelopes.

  • We are establishing a "Living Lab for Facades."

• As an accredited testing laboratory, we provide services to external clients, offering attractive testing options and other specialized services.

• We serve as a highly visible European institute for knowledge transfer in the field of sustainable construction, engaging through events, publications, lectures, and Open Educational Ressources (OER).

• We are known among employers for producing outstanding graduates and among prospective students for offering an excellent diploma degree program.
