On November 12th, 2021 the "Ursula und Bernd Zastrau Mechanik-Preis" was awarded for the first time. Mr. Dipl.-Ing. Tim Felix Kriesten received the award for his thesis "Investigation of the solution behavior of phase field formulations in crack simulations".
The award was donated by Ms. Ursula Zastrau and Prof. Dr.-Ing. habil. Bernd Zastrau, the former head of the Institute for Mechanics and Shell Structures (IMF). It is given to outstanding civil engineering graduates for the best thesis of the year written at the IMF.
