3rd ECCOMAS Conference on Numerical Computation Methods in Wood Mechanics (CompWood 2023) - September 5-8, 2023 in Dresden, Germany.
From September 5 to 8, the international scientific community of wood mechanics gathered at the TU Dresden. Organized by the Institute of Statics and Dynamics of Structures with Prof. Michael Kaliske as host, the conference CompWood 2023 - Computational Methods in Wood Mechanics took place during this period under the auspices of the European Community on Computational Methods in Applied Sciences (ECCOMAS). The conference provided a platform for leading scientists, PhD students, but also representatives from business and industry, thus contributing to a fruitful and intensive exchange of knowledge. The conference theme left room for a variety of in-depth sub-areas: experimental and numerical studies on different scales of observation - from the micro-components of wood, wood fibers and wood as a raw material to large wood structures and buildings. The goals are both material description and physical and mathematical modeling, as well as application-oriented analyses.
Highlights of the event were the five keynote lectures by leading scientists in the research field: Prof. Dr. Eberhardsteiner (TU Vienna, Austria), Prof. Dr. Sigurdur Ormarsson (Linnaeus University, Sweden), Prof. Dr. Andreja Kutnar (University of Primorska, Slovenia), Prof. Dr. Christoph Neinhuis (TU Dresden) and Prof. Dr. Akke Suiker (TU Eindhoven, Netherlands).
