Congratulations to Mr Chongjie Kang on the successful defence of his doctorate
On 4 October 2021, Mr. Chongjie Kang, M.Sc. successfully defended his scientific thesis within the framework of the doctoral procedure with the topic of "Rail track resistance verification considering track-bridge-interaction". In addition to the chairman of the doctoral committee, Prof. Dr.-Ing. habil. Ivo Herle (TU Dresden), Prof. Dr.-Ing. Steffen Marx (TU Dresden) and Prof. Dr.-Ing. Peer Haller (TU Dresden) were present as reviewers.
Stephan Freudenstein (TU Munich) and Prof. Gonglian Dai (Central South University, Hunan, China and National Engineering Laboratory for High-speed Railway Construction, Hunan, China) were also present as reviewers via video conference.
In this dissertation, rail resistance under compression and tension considering track-bridge-interaction was investigated. Numerical and experimental investigations of rails in a slab track system were carried out to investigate rail resistance under compression. For the investigation of rail resistance under tension, extensive experimental tests on rail fatigue behaviour and residual stresses were carried out. In the end, new limit values are recommended.
We warmly congratulate Mr Chongjie Kang on completing his doctorate and wish him all the very best and much success for his future path.
