iECO_kick-off
Since December 1, 2021, the Institute of Construction Informatics has been contributing to the development of the European cloud infrastructure GAIA-X. The holistic planning, construction and operation of buildings will be supported by so-called Smart Advanced Services (SAS).
The aim of iECO is to create a common data repository for the construction industry on the basis of GAIA-X. The possibilities of such a repository are used (1) to create a digital twin over the entire life cycle of a building, from the initial basic assessment to demolition, and (2) to develop Smart Advanced Services (SAS) based on AI and put into practice. The creation of a transparent and open ecosystem and the use of suitable AI algorithms play a central role. The above features are initially researched, developed and then used in the smart services of the ecosystem in various phases of the life cycle of the digital twin.
In this context, TUD contributes to the development and use of flexible, reusable multi-model and semantics-based AI methods and plans to apply these to smart services in the areas of planning, building permits, construction management, construction safety, commissioning and facility management.
The connection to conventional applications as well as the integration with ML-based algorithms should take place via suitable interfaces and process control methods. A broad variety of required distributed data sources will be supported.
