The Institute of Geotechnical Engineering at the Ohde colloquium
This year's Ohde Colloquium was held at the BAW in Karlsruhe on 8 and 9 November 2023. In memory of Prof. Johann Ohde, the Federal Institute for Water Engineering and the TU Dresden hold an alternate geotechnical colloquium. Johann Ohde has been concerned with calculation methods for foundations and with the soil mechanical examinations required for this purpose. He was professionally involved in both the practice of transportation water engineering and the science at the TU Dresden. The Ohde Colloquium 2023 presented the latest scientific findings on physical and numerical modelling in geotechnics and their application in practice in this tradition.
This year's colloquium was devoted to the themes: multiphase flow, flow-soil interaction and structure-ground interaction. The Institute of Geotechnics presented its own research in two contributions. Sebastian Ullmann presented his work within the SFB/TRR 339 subproject A07 - "Interaction between road construction and subsoil" and the findings from the experimental study of soil behavior and the development of suitable constitutive models for its description. More information about this project can be found here. Bozana Bacic introduced the newly developed PWD tester for the assessment of the liquefaction tendency of rough grain soils. More about this project can be found here.
