Guest lecture by Dr. Stanislav Pařez at the Institute of Geotechnical Engineering
On October 29, 2024, we had the opportunity to welcome Dr. Stanislav Pařez from the Czech Academy of Sciences to our Institute. Dr. Pařez, who works at the Department of Molecular and Mesoscopic Modelling, Institute of Chemical Process Fundamentals of the Czech Academy of Sciences, gave an exciting lecture on "Modeling Deformation of Granular Media and Fluids: Implications for Landslides, Soil and Faults".
In his lecture, Dr. Pařez highlighted the physical aspects of geotechnical issues, such as the kinematics of landslides, the starting and stopping angles of avalanches and the phenomenon of soil liquefaction. We would like to thank Dr. Pařez for his vivid and impressive presentation.
