On October 9, Ms. Alina Charlotte Lachmann defended her diploma thesis entitled 'Correlation between the pore water pressure build-up in undrained and the volumetric strain in drained conditions for coarse-grained materials'. Ms. Lachmann examined 3 different materials as part of her thesis, using the newly developed PWD tester. She supplemented the investigations and the findings from the tests with the PWD tester with the standardized drained triaxial tests. Her work enables a better understanding of soil behavior under drained and undrained conditions.
