Group picture of the participants
On September 25 and 26, Z. Metehan Karslioglu and Sebastian Ullmann from our Institute took part in the "Smart Geotech" workshop. The event was dedicated to the opportunities and challenges arising from the use of Artificial Intelligence, automation and robotics in geotechnics. The workshop was organized by the Institute of Geotechnical Engineering and Construction Management at Hamburg University of Technology.
The workshop was divided into three thematic blocks:
In the first part, current core research areas and developments were presented. The second part focused on the question of how teaching can adapt to the changes in working methods brought about by the use of language models (Large Language Models, LLM). The final part offered exciting insights from the field, in which companies showed how they are already implementing digital and automated approaches and what trends they see for the future.
The workshop was a great opportunity for exchange, new insights and networking.
