Institute of Geotechnical Engineering at IS Porto 2023

From 03.09 to 06.09, the 8th International Symposium on Deformation Characteristics of Geomaterials was held in Porto. Researchers from the entire world have gathered together in order to present and discuss their own research. The Institute of Geotechnical Engineering had the opportunity to participate and present its own research in two contributions. Our colleague, Selma Schmidt, presented her work on the characterisation of the heterogeneity of sand specimens in a triaxial compression test using CT images and representative elementary voluems. The contribution of our colleague, Bozana Bacic, deals with the PWP Tester, the newly developed experimental procedure for the assessment of the liquefaction tendency of coarse-grained soils.
