Institute of Geotechnical Engineering at the SPAM Workshop 2024
This year, the SPAM workshop took place in the beautiful Villar d'Arène. The workshop was organized by the development team with the aim to get to know the software better and to develop a workflow for your own problem.
After a short round of introductions, in which brief insights into the work of the participants were given and all participants were divided into working groups, there was a comprehensive introductory presentation on DVC. Then it was straight on to the practical part, where participants discussed their own problems and questions in the working groups with one of the developers. New solutions could be tested directly.
The workshop continued with an interesting presentation on the difference between local and global DVC and plenty of time to ask questions, discuss and test new solutions. The workshop was rounded off with a nice hike and games nights, where participants were able to exchange ideas with each other in a relaxed atmosphere.
The open-source software SPAM is used at the Institute of Geotechnical Engineering to analyze CT images of soil samples. Selma Schmidt attended the workshop and was able to successfully clarify open questions and discuss problems.
