BIWE-04 Constitutive Modelling of Soils
Content of the Lecture
For the numerical modelling of soil behaviour a mathematical model, so called constitutive model, is needed. The constitutive model has to be able to depict the features of soil behaviour, e.g. the stress-dependent soil stiffness, during loading.

Numerical calculation of an undrained triaxial compression test with two simple constitutive models.
During the course the structure of different constitutive models, from simple to advanced, is taught. The students will learn how to calibrate the parameters of constitutive models by means of results from laboratory tests. Furthermore, the teaching content includes the programming of routines for the numerical calculation of laboratory tests as oedometric and triaxial compression tests.
