Abstract:
The diploma thesis deals with the costs of road maintenance measures in Germany and France. In addition to the construction and expansion of the road network, the maintenance of the existing road network is also of great importance. Therefore, the importance of maintenance must be duly recognised by decision-makers and it must be adequately funded and managed to be fully cost-effective. In the future, the challenge for road operators with a well-developed road network will increasingly shift to maintenance.
The first objective of this paper is to identify the current and future developments of road maintenance costs in Germany and France. The second objective is to determine the responsibility of road authorities for infrastructure in both countries. And finally, the aim is to determine the resources used to manage road maintenance in both countries in order to develop an effective and sustainable strategy.
