Abstract:
This paper examines the effect that project management reporting can have on large construction projects as a control element. The performance profile of project management is presented in general and in particular with regard to reporting. Furthermore, the reporting system at the major project BER Airport is evaluated in the different phases. Based on the author's experience with this major project, a guideline for effective reporting is developed.
A reporting system can only be effective if it covers all levels of the project organization. Effectiveness arises from the fact that an effect on the success of the project can be felt through the actions of the reporting system. This makes the difference between a documented reporting system and a reporting system that actively contributes to the success of the project.
