Abstract:
In this diploma thesis, a standardised handling of externally modelled digital building models is developed, which will serve as the basis for the application of the Building Information Modelling (BIM) method in the company Karl Köhler Bauunternehmung GmbH & Co. KG during the construction phase. As part of the work, the basic processes of construction execution and possible implementations using BIM are shown. Due to the extensive potential for reducing costs, the focus of the analysis is on the areas of quantity surveying and invoicing as a result of externally created data models. In addition to the possibilities explained, current limitations and problems are also highlighted. The result of this thesis includes a flowchart with the necessary processes for the application of BIM in construction, which at the same time is to be understood as a recommendation for action and basis for the future implementation of BIM in the existing work processes of the company. Finally, the advantages and disadvantages of internal and external modelling of digital building models are discussed on the basis of various boundary conditions.
