Abstract:
This paper demonstrates that digitalised business processes are crucial for the competitiveness of construction companies. Digitalisation, including the use of artificial intelligence (AI), is a key driver for improving operational processes. Although AI is still in its infancy in construction companies, the work shows that it offers significant potential to optimise processes, especially for repetitive tasks. Business data plays a central role in achieving meaningful results when using the technology. The use of specific AI methods enables construction companies to solve complex problems more efficiently. Nevertheless, it should be noted that AI is not a universal solution and the effort required to create solutions can be considerable. The potential of the technology can be optimally utilised through targeted process analysis and problem identification. The work makes it clear that challenges are manifold and can be minimised if digitalisation and infrastructure are aligned with intelligent applications.
