Abstract:
This thesis examines the possibilities of business models for the decentralised generation and provision of sustainably produced energy in a commercial context. The aim of the thesis is to develop, analyse and comparatively evaluate business models for the use of photovoltaic and wind energy systems on company-owned land. Based on a thorough review of the technological, legal and economic fundamentals, three practical scenarios are developed – one self-consumption model and two pure feed-in models. The economic evaluation of these scenarios is carried out using the complete financial plan method. The central finding of the thesis shows that the self-consumption model is particularly attractive due to avoided electricity procurement costs, while pure feed-in models are not profitable on this scale under the current subsidy mechanisms. The thesis concludes with the finding that the economic success of decentralised energy projects depends less on the technology than on the chosen usage model and the ability to intelligently combine generation, consumption and storage.
