Abstract:
This thesis examines the potential of carbon concrete in building maintenance within an international context. The focus is on analysing regulatory, technological, infrastructural and economic conditions in selected European countries. As part of this study, a utility analysis and an international expert survey were conducted. The countries considered were Germany, Switzerland, Austria, the United Kingdom and the Netherlands. The analysis covered regulatory frameworks, sustainability aspects, infrastructure, research activities, practical application experience and cost-effectiveness. The evaluation and interpretation of the results demonstrate that market uptake depends on the level of development of the countries. In established markets, infrastructural optimisations are crucial, whilst in less developed markets, pilot projects and regulatory frameworks are key.
