Abstract:
This dissertation examines the use of digital methods for the planning, execution and monitoring of earthworks and civil engineering works within the framework of a GMP contract. The expansion of the Bauerfeind AG site in Zeulenroda-Triebes involves an analysis of Building Information Modelling, digital terrain models, GNSS-assisted machine control, digital quantity management, drone surveying and digital collaboration. The findings suggest that continuous digital process chains can optimise the determination of quantities, earthworks, the accuracy of execution, and the monitoring of construction progress and quality. In particular, the reuse and stabilisation of existing soils bring economic benefits. For successful implementation, reliable data, unambiguous model versions, defined responsibilities and standardised testing and approval processes are essential. Digitalisation optimises overall controllability in the construction industry and sustainably reduces unnecessary data disconnects.
