Abstract:
This thesis develops and applies a methodology for the economic, environmental and energy assessment of heat generation systems for existing buildings in rural
areas. The starting point is a reference building, for which various system variants – including fossil fuel, renewable and hybrid solutions – are defined and examined. To this end, the technical and economic fundamentals are first established, followed by the selection and description of the variants and the conduct of a multi-stage variant
comparison. A central component of the analysis is the examination of different energy price scenarios, taking into account the development of CO2 prices, in order to reflect future uncertainties in cost trends and to investigate their influence on the economic viability of the systems. The results are consolidated into an overall assessment and subsequently adapted for application to other buildings.
