Abstract:
This thesis analyses the current situation regarding building pollutants in urban mining and the extent to which they hinder high-quality recycling. It specifically addresses the legal and technical foundations of urban mining, recycling and hazardous substances. In addition, the foundations are laid for a database designed to collect information on individual pollutants and link this to an existing materials register. The aim is to promote the responsible handling of hazardous substances and to increase the proportion of recycled materials in secondary building materials. The purpose of this database is to retrieve specific information on the presence of hazardous substances in relation to the building’s design, year of construction and materials. In addition to the completion of material registers, potential applications have been identified in the form of supplements to building certificates or a general information system.
