Abstract:
This thesis examines the potential applications of sensor technologies on construction sites. The aim is to systematically identify potential areas of application for sensor-based technologies in the construction industry and to evaluate them in terms of their benefits and feasibility. To this end, the current state of sensor technologies in the construction industry is first outlined and supplemented with examples from other sectors. Building on this, a use case mapping is created, in which application scenarios in the areas of construction site management, construction logistics and occupational safety are analysed. A SWOT analysis is carried out to evaluate the identified potential and challenges, from which recommendations for action are derived. The results show that sensor technology has great potential for improving transparency, efficiency and safety on construction sites, but that its practical application is currently still limited by technical, organisational and economic constraints.
