Abstract:
The subject of this dissertation is a systematic comparison of the cost-effectiveness of traditional in-situ concrete construction and semi-precast construction in
modern building construction. As the choice of structural construction method has a decisive influence on the overall success of a project, this dissertation examines a comprehensive comparison of both technologies. The primary aim of this thesis is to clarify the interdependencies between construction technology, construction time and the resulting cost structures. Essentially, the study examines which logistical, equipment-related and personnel factors influence the theoretical time savings offered by semi-precast elements in practical construction. In order to provide a practical decision-making aid, the methodological focus is on detailed comparative cost calculations and construction time analyses based on three real-world building construction projects. At the same time, this study aims to analyse the often underestimated risks under construction contract law and the financial implications of a subsequent change in technology. The research suggests that there is no single construction method that is universally superior. Rather, the economic and contractual viability of a technology depends on predefined, project-specific constraints, which play a decisive role as early as the initial planning phase.
