On 8 June 2026, the research project HyBridGen – AI-based Bridge Generator was presented as part of the VBI Forum “Innovations in Bridge Engineering”. The online event addressed an interested professional audience from practice, research and public administration. More than 100 people attended the webinar.
At the beginning, Dr.-Ing. Chongjie Kang gave an overview of the motivation, objectives and structure of the project. This was followed by a presentation by Tim Noack on the use of ontologies and knowledge graphs in bridge design. Han Qian then presented machine-learning-based methods for supporting early-stage bridge planning. The organizational preparation and coordination of the event was supported by Mengyan Peng.
After the presentations, the participants joined a discussion focusing on practical applicability, integration into existing planning workflows and the role of artificial intelligence as a supporting tool in engineering.
The event provided a valuable opportunity to present current results from HyBridGen to a practice-oriented professional audience and to strengthen the exchange between research and engineering practice.
