Research and Studies
The Institute of Mechanics and Shell Structures offers classes for engineering mechanics, continuum mechanics, tensor calculus, micromechanics, shell structures, and numerical methods for the simulation of modern materials. Research focus is the development of numerical methods and models for the computer simulation of fracture mechanics processes on multiple scales as well as of multiphysical behaviour of complex materials such as dual-phase steels and high performance concrete.
The interdisciplinary character which reveals itself in collaborations with material scientists, mathematicians and metal forming technologists is of central importance especially in the field of material modelling.
Detailed information can be found in the description of the profile of the institute.
